Many homeowners are going to the extreme when it comes to their bathrooms. Their desire for the utmost in quality and style have been a major driving force behind a large increase in bath remodels and the popularity of the new shower designs.
There are 3 main styles of shower/tub enclosures: Framed, Semi-Frameless, and Frameless
Framed units are the classic units. They are a heavy framed hardware, and have a thick frame around the glass. It usually calls for 1/8" tempered glass
A Semi-frameless shower uses 1/4" thick tempered glass coupled with a head and side rail for basic support.

A Framless shower uses 3/8" thick tempered glass with extra-heavy duty hinges and as little framework as possible.

Though clear glass is the most popular in the semi-frameless and frameless shower units, there are additional glass styles and frame color options available.
